SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Valencia (D-Anaheim) had nine bills from his 2025 legislative package signed into law by Governor Newsom. This bill package continues to build on the Assemblyman’s priorities of supporting the workforce and economy, increasing transparency and accountability for local and state governments, and reinforces his commitment to good governance.
What Assemblymember Valencia Says
“I am proud of the work we have done with this year’s legislative package. These laws will help school employees get the support they need in the summer, make it more secure and easier for people to access phone and internet services, give communities clear information about local recovery resources, and hold government accountable to the people. I am grateful to my team, our partners, and my colleagues for making this possible. Together, we are building a California where everyday life is easier, families feel supported, and communities can thrive.”

Assembly Bill 378
Expands eligibility for classified school employees to participate in the Summer Assistance Program, providing more educators with financial assistance to support themselves and their families.
“No school employee should struggle to make ends meet during the summer. AB 378 ensures that the dedicated classified employees who feed hungry students, transport them to school, and support their learning in the classroom can access California’s Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program no matter their employer-type. I’m grateful to Governor Newsom and Assemblymember Valencia for supporting this expansion of the Summer Bridge program, which will provide much-needed relief to classified employees working for educational Joint Powers Authorities.”
